Vintage, Luxurious and Fabulous!

Vumba is known for its mountains, rich land, botanical gardens and the fabulous Tony’s Coffee Shop.  En route to our holiday home for the Easter weekend after our 3 hour drive to Vumba from Harare, there was one last stop we had to make. Afternoon tea at Tony’s.

Surrounded by the greenery  known to Vumba and the tranquil air. We were welcomed by an open gate made hidden in the thick forest with a subtle sign, Tony’s Coffee Shop .  What a welcome to the mystical mountains and our 2 night getaway. The gates open to the sprawling green lawns and forests of the surrounding areas. The prosperous vegetation and gardens lead to the intimate warm cottage  home to  Tony’s Coffee Shop. The popular coffee shop is known for its warm beverages and decadent cakes.  The pleasant Tony was at the cafe mingling with guests, serving  families and engaging in conversation. The coffee shop is intimate and from Tony’s personal approach and attentivenss it certainly makes you feel as if you are in his home and note an everyday cafe. The set up of the coffee shop is welcoming ; the decor is luxurious yet still simple. Tony’s coffee shop also includes a gallery with work inspired by the Vumba landscape.

Peaceful gardens of Tony’s Coffee Shop!

The coffee shop is in the heart of Vumba which makes it the ideal spot for tea and coffee drinking. The menu is testament to how personal this spot is as it is hand written on a vintage and homemade material.  The menu has several teas and coffees to choose from and it certainly is a boozy inspired menu. The same can be said of their cake menus which is filled with rich and decadent options. We settled on the chocolate cake which had a brandy finish so that meant non-alcohol drinkers didn’t have a taste. However,  we also got a non-alcoholic cheese cake which was just as tasty.  For drinks we kept it simple, with some of us opting for hot chocolate. The wait was short, and the treats were well presented. From the flower inspired garnish of the cakes to the vintage teapot and timeless cups. The 2 cakes were more than enough rich goodness for us 4 to share. Each bit is heaven and every bit of delightful.   It was scrumptious treat after the 3 hour drive to Vumba especially for the cake and coffee/tea lovers. I consider myself an occasional coffee lover but certainly enjoyed the treats.

The price tag is a little more than your “average” coffee shop but once you experience the personal feel, the quality, presentation and luxuriousness of the hidden spot. You understand why the spot is so popular; it’s not just simply coffee/tea and cake. … It  is a lavish experience in the lush Vumba. So it is worth spoiling yourself and we definitely loved that our drinks were bottomless. The personal service and decor makes you feel as if you are at a home! For the coffee lover this place is paradise…a must for the Vumba visitor!
