Designer, Phillip Marufu is setting new heights in the Zimbabwean Fashion industry with his larger than life bespoke suits. Known for his custom tailored suits and Zimbabwean clothing label, Armur Bespoke . The talented Phillip shared his story with me.

As usual, Zimbabwean/ African designers who are creating unique collections always stand out for me like Noe Es’s swimwear line. Naturally,  bespoke/custom tailored suits were something that instantly drew my attention. Phillip’s Armur Bespoke suits are show stoppers tailored to perfection with the best cut and style. Phillip’s designs are not just limited to men but women. I first met the interesting designer through Sans Exposure’s designer partnership where he dressed Cocoa and me for Episode 5 of The Teapot.

Phillip’s story is one that stands out for me as his stature certainly haven’t limited him dreams. His passions for styish clothes starts as early as his childhood or maybe even genes. His father was in the clothing industry having worked as a tailor for many years for companies such as Julie White,so it certainly appears the design skill is in the family  The man behind , Armur Bespoke commented that it all started from creating wire toy in his childhood as well as observing his mother’s sewing skills.  Sharing  stories of his childhood and how his mother often would often tailor clothes to fit him perfectly. While his mother  attempted to make Phillip clothes tailored for him, it was not as perfect as he has wished.

“I remember my mother sewing custom shorts and trousers, but when she was cutting I could see where she was making the mistake.  They had no front or back! You could wear it both sides which I didn’t like “added Phillip. Even as a child, Phillip had the eye for design and the  need to achieve perfection. He had the  craft and desire to achieve his ideas and design so  much so, that as a child he made his own soccer boots out of an old raincoat and old slippers. INNOVATION and PERFECTION are something  strengths he  has acquired throughout the years and the same principles he is using in his debut collection.

With almost a decade of design experience and a growing clientele in Harare. Phillip with his Armur Bespoke line is taking his throne as the go to man for custom suits in Sunshine City. His determination to achieve the perfect is what adds to the  immaculate sophistication of Armur Bespoke looks.
