It is almost that time of the year when Zimbabwe’s fashion elite takes over Harare for a week and indulges in everything chic, creative and sophisticated. Zimbabwe Fashion Week is returning at the end of August.

ZFW 2014’s press briefing took place over the weekend on 28th June 2014 at the trendy Pariah State. The press briefing followed directly after the model casting which had started around noon. I arrived at the hot spot around 3 pm to mingle and find out what this year’s event has in store.Several models filled up the spot while others chilled outside. One could feel the tense energy and fierceness as the models strut down the runway and showed off their best walks.

Also happening simultaneously was 263 Africa TV who were shooting and filming the day’s activities. In fact , as I arrived Big Brother 2013 star, Hakeem was being interviewed by the 263 TV team. While taking in the fashion filled air, I met Zim fashion Diary blogger, Beryl who was such a star and kept me up to speed about how things work as she has been blogging and attending ZFW since its start in 2010. Fashion guru, Simon Denier and his wife Jen were also in the building. Simon is undeniably a Fashion Week guru and “it” guy. Simon has worked on some of the best fashion weeks across the globe. Fashion weeks such as Cape Town Fashion Week, JHB fashion Week m African Fashion Week London and finally Zimbabwe Fashion Week.
