The big day arrived..THE MILLER SOUNDCLASH  and a buzz surrounded the event due to its smart and exclusive marketing. The event was hosted by Miller and Delta Beverages and had caused much buzz on social media. With limited information available besides the headlining acts and venue. Moments till the event , party goers were not quite sure how the event guestlist would work and if the event really was free or if it was  a first come first serve basis.  Was it really an event where money couldn’t buy tickets? The SoundClash definitely was the talk of the northern surburbs.

Intrigued event goers rocked up to the exclusive event, invite or  registration in hand . The bouncers let guests in and it turned out to be true. No money, no  tickets!. There definitely was uncertainty of what to expect. After being welcomed by the friendly female hosts.  We enetered a new world , Miller’s world. The extravagant lighting and screen immediately stole my attention as I walked in. The ambiance was set and was undeniably magical and exciting. The red and blue lighting filled the unique Glasshouse. The event was attended by the crème de la crème of Harare  nightlife.  Guests who attended ranged from company execs, musicians, various radio djs, media houses and zim personalities.

Ray dizz started the night off , winner of the Miller Zimbabwe DJ Soundclash competition. Ray will be flying to Las Vegas to represent Zimbabwe in the  grande Miller Sound Clash,. The night was hosted by South Africa Dj SPHEtacular and .  The 2 hosts definitely brought some great energy. I especially loved  Sphetacular who was such a joyful spirit who genuinely enjoyed  his African experience. The night also featured showgirls and dancers who performed skillful, artistic as well as sexy dance acts. They were a different touch to the night and while they were sexy it was done tastefully.

Euphonik was definitely well received by audiences which was exciting as it is one of his first visits to the country. His set lived to his house reputation.  His entrance on stage was welcomed by balck and gold confetti which added to the festive atmosphere. Fresh followed Euphonik and kicked his set off with my favourite  track done by Fresh and Nyanda, “ Cool & Deadly”. The same 2 words I would use to describe Fresh.  The night was fiilled with high speed smoke machines , confetti and attention grabbing graphics.Fresh was followed by Khuli Chana who was probably the best act of the night , Khuli brought some fantastic stage presence. The crowd also erupted in excitement for the South African rapper. Not only did audiences sing along to his tracks but also did some real hip hop bouncing and jamming. Khuli left the night on a high note.

The amazing graphics, lighting, set up, security and acts were definitely a  great touch to the night. The night was closed by Rax the Dj. It was definitely a fantastic night and well put together. I commend MGDA for  pulling off such an event and bringing something new to audiences around Africa. More importantly for celebrati

ng Africa and showing that we too can pull of a hip, fresh and exciting event. The scale and grandness of the event is commendable. The attention to detail, and the  high quality and cleanliness of the public toilets was a plus. The callibre and refinement to the event was commendable . Applaud worthy organization and creativity.  However one of my only criticisms of the event is that it would have been nice to see more local acts as well as other African acts headline and  even co present. In essence Miller brought south Africa to  Africa more than Africa together. While 2 local djs did perform, they weren’t as highlighted andmore importantly the event would have been exciting if it was co –hosted by both a South African and Zimbabwean. There is a need to celebrate fellow african entertainment and personalities.

GDA and Delta definitely pulled the night off and what a fresh and exciting party experience. A free party, with such a fantastic line up and entertainment. Superb attention to detail , great sound and stimulating graphics. It really was Miller Time and undeniably one of the best parties of the year. More importantly it definitely was tickets that money could not buy. We want more Miller.! Thank you for this one
