3 days of style, fierce and a whole lot of fabulosity ended with a sophisticated Awards Ceremony. Zimbabwe Fashion Week’s runway lights turned off with a celebration of Fashion in a well attended Awards-Ceremony held at the Harare City Library.

The nights hosts, were Ruvhi Pari and the dapper, Marshal Mutsamwira. The two hosts for the night were dressed to the tee.  Featured guests included media personalities and some members of government. Guests wore stylish numbers and definitely embraced the fashion forward atmosphere. Award-winning, Mokoomba kicked things off and added a jazzy atmosphere to the night. The fusion of music and fashion was well received.

The first category to be presented was, Blogger of the Year which was presented by Swahili Fashion Week Founder, Mustafa Hassanali. I was completely surprised to see my name on the list of nominees for this award. None of the nominees were notified before, so it was a complete surprise and a humbling moment. Then the BIG ANNOUNCEMNT of the award winners was made. WHAT a surprise to see my name on the screen. That will forever be a humbling and adrenalin pumping moment. To have people in the crowd shouting for both Melisa (fellow nominee) and I was so mind blowing. THEN TO ACTUALLY WIN. As I, went to collect my award, all I kept thinking was do not fall. It was a real honour to be presented with the award by Mustafa, someone who inspires me and whose work I was so excited to see at ZFW2014. In true Mustafa style, we took SELFIES on stage…yes… ON STAGE. What fun.

The night continued with many more awards, such as Male and Female Awards won by,  Mervyn Uahupirapi  and Jordyn Miller (respectively). Style Icon went to Craig Zoowie who rocked a white number finished off with some African-inspired accessories. The choice of the African pieces against the fresh and clean white was a good choice.  The BIG award of the night, DESIGNER OF THE YEAR went to the talented Ishmael Tsakatsa  of Zargue’sia.  More performances featured from hip hop trio, MMT and thank you to TATEA for the shout out. Karizma also featured later in the night.

The Fashion Awards marked the end of the week dedicated to Fashion. Priscilla Chigaririo-Gessen closed the event with a speech of thanks to supporters and sponsors of the 5 year old event. The night ended with some chic mingling and goodbyes from local and international guests. I definitely enjoyed the week and really submerged myself in all things fashion. From networking, interviews to the well produced fashions shows, THANK YOU ZFW.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, I TRULY APPRECIATE EVERYONE WHO NOMINATED ME AND VOTED FOR ME. WINNING BLOGGER OF THE YEAR WITH THIS 2 YEAR OLD BLOG MEANS THE WORLD. This lifestyle blog is just some of the special events, spots, individuals that I encounter
